palomino

Palominos are the result of one cream dilution gene on a chestnut horse. Palominos can range in shade from nearly white to a very dark, sooty brown, sometimes mistaken for flaxen liver chesnut or even silver dapple. Palominos have white mane and tail, although on sooty, dark palominos the mane and tail may be darker gray or silvery.

The cream gene is dominant, so a palomino must have a cream dilute parent.
