Dun is a dilution gene that lightens both red and black hair on the horse's body. It also is associated with strong primitive markings which include a dorsal stripe, dun colored frosting at the sides of the mane and tailhead, leg barring, dorsal barbs, facial cobwebbing, a facial mask of darker hair, white ear tips and barring on the ears. Because dun is a dominant gene, dun horses will always have a dun parent. Please note If you only see a blank screen and are asked to download the Macromedia Player, please do so.
